Hi..Friends and fellow photographers, its been a while since I uploaded by BLOG! Well, nothing much has happened since my trip to Sinharaja in March. The Couple of trips to Yala were a total failure (photography wise), I just wasn?t lucky. Which is the thing about Yala, you just have to be damn lucky there. So, better Luck next time. Enough about Yala now. I Hope our Yala fans are not disturbed by my sarcastic comments. Sorry that?s just me???.
My last decent photo trip was for a 2 day trip into Sinharaja, where I managed to get some pleasing portraits of the Purple faced Leaf Monkey enjoying some jackfruits (was not the best shot I would have liked to have got) it started drizzling and I had to pull my camera back into my cab.,
I was shooting with my very heavy and sturdy GITZO tripod, I always use it when ever I can and when there was s heavy downpour, so I had to run into my double cab before I catch pneumonia. But before the jackfruit ordeal I managed to get some nice portraits, which are displayed below.
I met Dr.Vanderpoorten and wife inside the sinhraja trek. That was the first time I met them even though I have heard about them before. They were a very nice and sober couple. They were so good enough to show me some of their fantastic butterfly pictures.
And then got a little unlucky with the Blue Magpies, which was what I was after. I didn't want to show them here, but what the hell, that was what i was after anyway.Unfortunately all of them had been marked on the legs. Its a shame.
As you can see with the Magpie Image, I had to carry about 20 kilos of equipment to take this shot. My gitzo tripod, camera body, Wymberley head and flash with Wymberley flash bracket. Dr Poorten commented that I should go to the gym to keep up this routine...Hah..Hah..hah. The clarity of this Image is excellent due to my studio set up there.
It rained as usual in the evenings. I really enjoyed Martins Bungalow more than the photography. It had such a peaceful atmosphere with a superb view of the canopy.
See you all next time??.
